Positions open for the May 2024 Election:

Councilmember District 3
Councilmember District 4

ELECTION - CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS FOR CITY COUNCIL

Must be a United States citizen.
Must be a registered voter on the date of election.
Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the city for 12 months immediately preceding  the deadline for filing an application for a place on the ballot.
Must be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election.
Has not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court.
Has not been finally convicted of a felony from which the candidate has not been pardoned or otherwise.
Must satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE MAY 4, 2024 GENERAL ELECTION 

January 17, 2024 - First day to apply for a place on the ballot
January 15, 2024 - City Offices will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King's Birthday
February 16, 2024 - Last day to apply for a place on the ballot
April 4, 2024 - Last Day to Register to vote
May 4, 2024 - Election Day,  Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to  7:00 p.m.
