Sergeant D. Pruitt began his career in Law Enforcement in 2010 with the City of Hitchcock Police Department, where he served as a night shift officer. In 2012, he was hired by the Dickinson Police Department and served as a patrol officer and Taser instructor.

Sergeant Pruitt returned to Hitchcock in 2016 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2017.  Sergeant Pruitt attended several courses at Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), including First Line Supervisor, Definitive FTO, and Program Administrators Course.  Sergeant Pruitt was currently manages the day shift Patrol squads.

Sergeant Pruitt holds an Advanced Peace Officer License and is working towards his Master Peace Officer License.  Sergeant Pruitt completed the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy program in 2021.
