Lieutenant D. Pruitt began his career in Law Enforcement in 2010 with the City of Hitchcock Police Department, where he served as a night shift officer. In 2012, he was hired by the Dickinson Police Department and served as a patrol officer and Taser instructor.

Lieutenant Pruitt returned to Hitchcock in 2016 and was promoted to Administrative Sergeant in 2017. While he was Sergeant, Pruitt attended several courses at Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), including First Line Supervisor, Definitive FTO, and Program Administrators Course. Lieutenant Pruitt was then promoted to Lieutenant in 2019 and currently manages the Patrol Division and CID divisions, along with overseeing the sex offender registration program.

Lieutenant Pruitt holds an Advanced Peace Officer License and is working towards his Master Peace Officer License, he is set to finish the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy program in 2021.
