Sergeant D. Pruitt began his career in Law Enforcement in 2010 with the City of Hitchcock Police Department, where he served as a night shift officer. In 2012, he was hired by the Dickinson Police Department and served as a patrol officer and Taser Instructor.

Sergeant Pruitt returned to Hitchcock in 2016 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2017.  Sergeant Pruitt attended several courses at the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), including First Line Supervisor, Definitive FTO, and Program Administrators Course.  Sergeant Pruitt currently manages the day shift Patrol squad, along with overseeing the Marine Division.

Sergeant Pruitt holds an Advanced Peace Officer License and is working towards his Master Peace Officer License.  Sergeant Pruitt completed the FBI LEEDA Leadership Trilogy program in 2021 and graduated from the FBI Command College in 2023.
