Detective K. Salas’s interest in law enforcement began in high school when she completed the Junior Leadership program. In 2016, while still in the academy, her career in law enforcement started when she was recruited by The Conroe ISD Police Department. As a campus officer, Detective Salas worked at many of the high schools within the school district. She took pride in being able to help mold a juvenile, helping them understand that they can succeed in anything they wanted to do, and being a positive role model. Detective Salas received Officer of the Year for her district within her first year with the Conroe ISD Police Department.

After moving to Webster, she began her career with the Hitchcock Police Department in December 2018.

Detective Salas has almost 4 years of law enforcement experience, holds her Basic Peace Officer License, and is very close to advancing to her Intermediate Peace Officer License. Officer Salas holds an associate degree in Information Technology and is working toward a Criminal Justice Degree.

Detective Salas is a single mother of two, an 11-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. When she is not working, Detective Salas enjoys gardening and repairing things around the house, going to the beach with her family, and taking sporadic road trips on her Harley Davidson. Detective Salas looks forward to working with the citizens of Hitchcock for many years to come, helping Hitchcock succeed and grow into the city many know it can be!
