Vanessa Downey is the Administration Assistant and Records Technician at the Hitchcock Police Department and takes pride in providing quality customer service and clerical support for the community and the department. Her duties include providing records to the requesting public and other agencies, provide problem solving skills, and help with logistical needs in order to maintain the running of the department. Vanessa also helps with updating and posting to our social media platforms for the department, in order to help keep citizens informed on current and upcoming happenings in the city.
Originally from Lumberton, Texas, Vanessa moved to Galveston in 2012 where she began her career as a receptionist. Later in 2013, Vanessa joined a company and began a new journey in the Maritime Healthcare Industry; where she coordinated and facilitated healthcare for foreign crewmembers that came through the ports of Houston and Galveston. During her time in the Maritime Healthcare Industry, she completed her licensing and training to be a licensed life insurance agent. Vanessa joined with the Hitchcock Police Department in 2019; a career that combines her passion of serving others and clerical work.
Vanessa lives with her Staffordshire Terrier, Willow Dean, and enjoys her free time cooking, event planning, serving her church as a worship leader, and spoiling her handsome nephew Ezra.
