Galveston County Health District today reports 20 new positive COVID-19 cases in Galveston County residents. This brings the county’s case total to 421.

We are saddened to report 1 additional death.

  • A male, age range 71-80, passed away April 12. He had pre-existing medical conditions.

We’re also reporting 13 additional recoveries, bringing the total to 157.

Today, the health district tested a total of 304 people (78 in Galveston and 226 in Texas City) through its free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site. To date, 1,145 tests have been performed with 16 positive and 645 negative results reported back to the health district. All other results are currently pending. Testing is not limited to just Galveston County residents, but only county residents who tested positive for COVID-19 will be included in the health district’s daily case update.

To date, 5,714 Galveston County residents have been tested. This number does not include Galveston County residents who may have been tested outside the county.
